Back in 2019, Google launched its Stadia Cloud gaming service allowing users to stream their video games to their TV or laptop or smartphone. It was even said to be the Netflix for video games.
However, it was announced lately that Google has shut down its Stadia game-streaming service. It was said that the platform wasn’t able to gain momentum and attract users. According to Google, the service will remain accessible until January 18h, 2023 and all Stadia and accessories bought since the launch will be refunded to users.
On the other hand, Netflix announced plans earlier this week to set up its own video game studio in an effort to establish itself in the gaming industry and to address the dramatic fall in subscriber numbers which according to data, Netflix lost 970 000 subscribers in the second quarter of 2022.
According to Netflix, they have the “vision to build a world-class game studio. It will bring delightful and deeply engaging original games with no ads and no in-app purchases to our hundreds of millions of members around the world.”
