Everyone is glued to their phone these days. And we’re not just talking about the younger generation of gen Z or my generation, the millennials but it includes the boomers. And a study has shown that mothers and fathers who spend too much time on their smartphones are more likely to be bad parents.
The study claimed that those dealing with a stressful household often turned to social media to relax and this in turn would only make them nag and yell more. The more time parents spend on social media to retreat from spending time with their family, the worse their parenting becomes. However, it’s not entirely bad. Research also found out that by being on social media, it could lower anxiety and depression by maintaining friendships too.
So, as parents, it’s not only asking your kids to stay off the phone and go study, but you yourself have to be aware about it as well. Everything has to be in moderation!
