If you’re feeling stressed lately, well, there’s a study that talked about the harmful effects of stress on our immunity. And now, this study is telling you that anticipating a laugh reduces your stress hormones.
This study was done in 2006 where researchers found that simply anticipating a laugh experience boosted health-protecting hormones and two years later, the same research team found out that anticipating a laugh can also reduce detrimental stress hormones. When you watch a funny video which made you feel like laughing, two hormones – beta-endorphins and human growth hormone increased by 27 to 87 percent respectively and another three stress hormones – cortisol, epinephrine and dopac were reduced.
So now, you know that laughing or watching a comedic video or movie is beneficial. It not only releases your stress but also makes you feel good. Now go watch something funny!
