Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You is one of the hottest Christmas Holiday songs there is. The song literally topped charts during every Christmas time since 1994. And that’s why Mariah is dubbed queen of Christmas. But who would have thought that after all these years, someone actually filed a lawsuit against Mariah Carey.
It was reported that songwriter Andy Stone is suing Mariah Carey for copyright infringement for allegedly taking inspiration from a song that he wrote and recorded by the same name years before 1994. So, the only similar thing about Andy’s All I Want for Christmas Is You and Mariah’s All I Want for Christmas Is You is the title. Andy said that Mariah and her team never sought or obtained permission for the use of the title and even after reaching out to them, they ignored him so he decided to take it up to court.
As of now, Mariah and her team are not responding to the lawsuit so we’re not sure what’s gonna happen next. But it does sound weird because why only take action after so many years?
