Dogs are man’s best friend. But taking care of a dog requires a lot of responsibilities and commitment. Well, scientists have developed or rather, invented a new robotic dog.

Scientists from the University of Glasgow and Western Sydney University have identified seven categories of dog behaviours that owners perceive as important for bonding with their pets which are proximity, communication, attunement, physical touch, consistency, positivity and enthusiasm and shared activities.

And they want to teach robotic dogs these seven traits in order to make them more realistic and lovable. These robotic dogs will then be used to reduce loneliness in humans or be as an assistants to those in need like the elderly.

Nevertheless, more research and study are needed to perfect this robotic dog so make it more suitable as a human companion. Having a robotic dog might not be entirely a bad idea.
